Pros
The immediate environment is great for someone starting off in their tech career, but you should have fundementals under your belt. There is a path to growth if you work very hard, free sodas, pizza stop offers 50% off up to $5 off. Our 2nd shift techs are full of great and insightful people.
Cons
If you want a delegator or "champion" role (it's not even a real position), you need to be a good technician of course, but to be a lead you seemingly no longer need to worry about technical skills and you have to suck up to the leads that be. Only problem is if you strive to improve the issues this place has they will ignore you and choose their friends. They don't want an agent for change, they want to maintain their power and if you try to change that, you are an enemy. Our leads and supervisors right under management have zero clue how to evaluate your performance unless you shove it down their throats in the cringiest ways. They use flawed data and have the nerve to call people who carry this place on their backs "bad" as they sit on their desks and copy and paste outdated information all day while we stand and suffer. Most of the tasks we are assigned are actually their responsibility and they think we don't that. The work environment is loud, you need to wear hearing protection, and you're working standing at ALL times, a chair is a sin to these people. They recently were working on a "remote" section which would have us out of the loudness and sitting, accessing our product on our laptops. That idea was recently scrapped after AMD came around and yolked up our entire company, only to be slicing MFG off like a tumor and taking over the better building. Management is toxic and there are only a couple good actors within the ranks, rub elbows properly and you'll be praised for doing the smallest things, act as an agent for change and reform and you'll be demonized for everything you do for it will not be enough for them, no matter how well everyone around you says you do. To make matters worse, this is only the 2 nd shift, believe me or not, the 1st shift is even worse, the entire shift is completely under qualified and the team members in 2nd shift are constantly picking up their slack, and any attempt to speak up against it is snuffed out by a certain supervisor in 2nd because "you are blaming others". 1st shift gets to do whatever they please with zero oversight and consequences and they're fully aware of it. Their leads and managers will turn a blind eye, but throw you into a meeting where they will dogpile you over trying to fight against it, honestly if you have an activist mindset, this will be an uphill battle, so if you're trying to get that kind of experience the. This is totally for you. I could go on but I think I added enough. This place will have you mentally ill and tired every day, your ankles, hips, knees will start to hurt, and according to doctors standing all day will increase your risk of heart disease. The sheer fact they ripped away the tables for us shows they could care less about people despite their first "value" being "people first". If you already have a cert, able to stay with Mom and dad while you get more. Do it, go for a part time and grind that out, it's not worth your mental health.
