Pros

Some great talented people, Dark Fiber is a great field to be involved in at this time.

Cons

Many upper and middle management seem to think that they are never at fault and continually blame other employees or sub cons for there lack of knowledge or fireside and will never stand-up and be accountable. Becareful on the promises as they will defiantly give you more responsibility and sometimes even a title promotion however the do not be surprised if the pay increase takes a year or so to come to fruition or even at all. The attitude of upper management and even Dan Caruso is to bad if you don't like it go work somewhere else which that kind of attitude just speaks volumes to employees which only hear we don't care! As we all know this statement is true it's just not something you actually say on all hands calls to the entire workforce which happens to be the only reason Zayo is a success it's not your investors it's your employees that made it possible. And unfortunately Zayo has lost and is losing and will continue to lose talented and valuable employees due to this type of attitude.

Zayo Response

Transparency is monumentally important and Zayo is known for its transparency. The most obvious example is our earning supplement -- which provides great insights into our financial performance. We speak candidly about the implications of these numbers -- whether good, bad or neutral. We are also candid with our employees. We owe it to one another to be open, honest and transparent. We try to avoid sugarcoating or spinning messages. Through RAD sessions, town halls and all employee meetings, we seek feedback and, in most areas, we have shown our willingness to change and adapt. In some areas, certain employees have a difference of opinion that is more fundamental. E.g., some employees believe in across the board annual raises whereas we believe in merit compensation increases. Some people believe in bonuses and RSUs based solely on individual performance. We don’t. We believe we must deliver for our investor partners to earn the bonus pool. These are examples where employees might hear me say, “Zayo isn’t a fit for everyone. We are looking for partners who believe we should all share in the equity value we produce, and accept the risks and rewards of a performance based comp plan.” I hope this candor helps certain employees self-select into an environment they view as a better fit. The foundation of Zayo is our employees. They are skilled, resourceful, passionate and capable. They are winners, as evidenced by our results over the past 10 years.

Pros

Excellent sales enablement, tools, and internal support. Leadership has done a good job creating an environment where Enterprise Account Executives can focus on selling instead of getting bogged down by administrative tasks. CRM data is clean, processes are organized, and responsibilities between Sales, Customer Success, and Account Management are clearly defined. It’s refreshing to work for a company that invests in the systems and structure needed to help its sales teams succeed.

Cons

Ongoing integration efforts following the Crown Castle Fiber acquisition mean some processes and systems are still evolving. As with most enterprise sales roles, building pipeline requires significant self-sourcing and prospecting across a large territory. The product portfolio is extensive, which creates a bit of a learning curve for new hires but also provides opportunities to solve complex customer challenges.
