Pros

Zayo has taken away the only pro they had going which was letting people work remotely. They have instituted a new strict policy that anyone within 90 miles of a Zayo office is required to be in the office 5 days a week 8 to 5. There are no pros to working for zayo. Upper management thinks this new policy will help with churn and increase our IRR. The reality is that Zayo doesn't do right by it's customers. They lose touch and don't meet deadlines and then on top of that they increase prices constantly. With the non stop acquisition it looks like Zayo is just panning on buying company after company to make it look like they are highly profitable to investors while the execs just wait to sell everything off eventually.

Cons

Industry low for pay. "bonuses" that are never paid out in full, ever. Expected to work 60 hours a week and take calls in the middle of the night and on vacation. Zero accountablity in the work place because no managers are actually on site. This leads to zero supervision and total chaos in the office. Upper management is smug. Zero chances for advancement or a raise. I know people who have worked for Zayo for 5 years and not received a raise.

We believe there are many pros to working at Zayo, one of those being the great people and dynamic work environment. There is a lot of value in creating an environment that fosters teamwork and collaboration -- that doesn’t happen readily with working remotely. This was one of the main drivers behind updating the work from home policy. As part of our new work from home policy, we will continue to be flexible to accommodate occasional work from home requirements on a needs basis, giving managers discretion to allow flexibility for their direct reports under special circumstances (Dr.’s appointments, home situations, etc.). The new policy was implemented to ensure that employees work primarily from an office location unless their function requires them to be outside a traditional office, or they have an approved exception to the policy. We believe having more of our talented employees collaborating on a daily basis will help us improve our execution and meet our goals. We’re encouraged by our performance and progress on bonus and restricted stock payouts, with recent payouts higher than previous quarters. We’ve also made changes to our plan based on employee feedback, including adjusting our payouts such that, executives receive less than the average when we have lower payouts and employees who are lower on the compensation grid are paid out well above the average. We have also focused heavily on promoting from within. In 2017, we promoted approximately 10% of the employee base each quarter. Part of the reason we implemented the new work from home policy is to provide people more opportunities for career advancement. These are all topics we recommend discussing with your manager during your next RAD with your manager.

Pros

Excellent sales enablement, tools, and internal support. Leadership has done a good job creating an environment where Enterprise Account Executives can focus on selling instead of getting bogged down by administrative tasks. CRM data is clean, processes are organized, and responsibilities between Sales, Customer Success, and Account Management are clearly defined. It’s refreshing to work for a company that invests in the systems and structure needed to help its sales teams succeed.

Cons

Ongoing integration efforts following the Crown Castle Fiber acquisition mean some processes and systems are still evolving. As with most enterprise sales roles, building pipeline requires significant self-sourcing and prospecting across a large territory. The product portfolio is extensive, which creates a bit of a learning curve for new hires but also provides opportunities to solve complex customer challenges.
