Pros

This company is really good at selling the Zillow way to new hires. We got to train in Seattle. It was an amazing experience. Great benefits and incentives. They allow you to choose your own work hours. The base pay is pretty decent depending on where you are working from and your tax bracket. You can make some great friends here and the sales managers are really nice.

Cons

Smoke and mirrors folks. We were trained to sell Zillow but came out of training realizing we weren't trained on how to use all 4 platforms you will use to get your account information. Since they trained us on how to sell Zillow PA you would think as new hires our focus was to get comfortable selling in the first month. That was not the case. Our focus was to meet a talk time of seven 2+ minute conversations a day not to sell and get rev. We were not told this until 3 weeks into our first month on the phones. The only reason we were finally told this expectation for our job was because we were already being told we would lose our jobs within the first month for not reaching this KPI. Many reps had closed over 5k but were threatened to be fired over this in less than 1 month on the phones. Although our trainers tried to fight to ban this for us they did not succeed. Matter of fact the GM said "we need fairness across the board". Instead they told all of us (new hires over the past 4 months) thank you for your feedback. Because of our feedback they launched a new 4-mth onboarding program for new hires to make sure they are properly trained. In that same meeting announcing this new project, they informed us that we "didn't forget about the new hires we just had". In a meeting with our training team, we were told nothing can be done for us. In other words, we were the guinea pigs. Most of us either quit or got fired after the 3rd month. It isn't on any of the managers but more on the GMs. On top of all of that, the system that tracks your talk time and calls are glitchy. I know people who were missing phone calls a week after making them. As far as the job itself, new hires struggle to get accounts. Since there isn't any territories it is like (as my friend put it) The Hunger Games. If you don't put the correct status on an account you will lose your rev and the account to another rep and there is nothing you can do about it. Imagine being a new hire with no training on this, making a deal not knowing how to keep your rev from becoming someone else's. That was most new hires experiences and we had to accept it. It feels like you are running really fast for hours and going nowhere while bearing the burden of being told you are going to lose your job the whole time. It speaks volumes when vets who have been with this company for so long speak of this being the hardest season they have ever worked here. So imagine how hard it is for a new hire with no proper training trying to learn their job as fast as you can with limited resources (because most of the managers are new in their positions) so you don't get fired right out of training. Learning a new job is already stressful but this experience was by far one of the worst.

Pros

Generally the people I work with are great. They are supportive, creative, and work well as a team. Work-life balance is good, although some teams have more on-call than others.

Cons

- Senior leadership has determined that inflation need not be a factor when calculating raises. - Also, we're having record profitability! But also money is very tight and we all need to tighten our belts. - Our stock is down 50% this year, but you all need to suck it up, even though stock is a huge part of pay. - We don't care that you are getting a 30% effective pay cut this year. - Performance ratings are calculated on vibes before reviews are actually written. - We've started outsourcing heavily to Mexico and India. - "We need to raise the bar" ("Please work harder for the same pay") - Health benefits have eroded for several years. - Other benefits have never been adjusted for inflation. - AI is becoming like a cult. We've actually been told that the dream is to never open a code editor again, despite the technology not being remotely ready for that (and with no proof that it is less expensive or saves time).
