Pros
I will be honest- the exposure to the industry standard of advertising with national brands is great for any young pro. You learn quickly and you take on responsibility fast. Vendors treat the employees well (much better than the company does). Frequent free food.
Cons
1) No pay. I worked there for $30k/yr (avg. of $14.37/hr). In Broward County, this is not a livable wage. You either have to have parents in the area that will let you stay with them or be willing to live in a dangerous area. Even with free rent, the wage was not enough to pay student loans and set up any type of savings or financial plan for the future. What really made it worse was that I worked long hours for 2 pro-bono accounts. I know Jordan likes to offer free stuff to his friends, but he grossly underpays his workforce to do so. My very next job paid me twice the salary with half the work. 2) No work-life balance. Everyone from entry-level to executives are expected to work well over 40 hours per week, come in over the weekend, and also be available 24/7. I heard "If you're not willing to be here Saturday and Sunday, then don't be here Monday through Friday" so many times. The company loved to praise employees that had to check in to the hotel next door because they had to stay at the office so late that they were too tired to drive home. 3) Poor quality of work. If you look at any commercials the creative agency produces, you'll quickly they are far below the industry standard of work. 4) Condescending directors. Too many people around me were plagued by harsh directors that overworked them and consistently degraded them. It was heartbreaking to watch each day, and you couldn't go to the bathroom without hearing someone crying. 5) Terrible training structure. You end up learning how to do your job via trial by fire. Nobody was able to teach me one thing and I am a gifted learner (if I do say so myself). 6) Pompous company identity. I quickly observed how little the company was willing to listen and how often they touted how smart and innovative they were. There really wasn't much company growth, they quickly lost new clients, and results were never what they hoped. 7) Unbelievably high turnover. No effort was put into retaining employees and everyone was expendable.
