Pros
- Good culture and work environment in 3 departments I have worked at, except for a few toxic managers here and there.
- Compensation comparable to other large banks.
- Company tries to communicate all important policies and decisions.
Cons
Challenges (common to most large companies):
- Decision that are supposed to save company money, in practice lead to higher error rate, more friction between departments, and unhappier customers, because they are made by higher level managers who don't understand the consequences (e.g. transferring loan operation from affiliates to bancorp, dissolving and creating departments, adopting new software, outsourcing).
- Too many meetings with little to no benefit to productivity.
- Lack of power for lower level managers to make helpful changes because of the company's tall organizational structure.
- A lot of managers' resistance to new ideas and change.
- Company has been making genuine effort to help employees grow but it's not successful because it is based on incorrect understanding of what makes a good manager.
- Technology problems such as software issues and getting needed access.
- Back-to-office mandate has led to many employees very unhappy or leaving, without any seemingly positive results for company productivity.
