Nepotism issues - Anonymous employee Zscaler Employee Review

As other reviews have touched upon, there are severe nepotism issues at Zscaler. Middle managers openly brag about their access to Jay, bypassing hierarchy. If you spend couple weeks working there, you can quickly figure out the characteristics of those who benefit from nepotism. Jay surrounds himself with sycophants - I've sat in meetings where leadership will outright say "Because Jay said so", as if that was a sufficient argument in favor of bad ideas. It wasn't unusual for him to just throw out tasks on a whim on an almost daily basis, requiring us to pivot to his latest "idea" and dropping all other projects. He'd tell his direct reports he wanted something done that day, the leaders never pushed back and just agreed immediately, then they would turn around and dumped it into the team's lap. It also wasn't unusual for him or other leaders to never ask about the project again as they had already moved on to some new, wacky idea. I can't count the number of times I finished a project and handed it in, only for it to never be used or looked at again. Some leaders are especially self-serving and cutthroat, I suppose that isn't unique to SV but at Zscaler they are often not terribly competent as well due to the aforementioned nepotism. Teams spend more time trying to keep bosses happy than actually moving the business forward, and no one speaks up about it. Lots of turnover.
