Pros

The best part of Zynx is definitely the people. Everyone I ever worked with was for the most part extremely collaborative, transparent, and helpful, as well as a wealth of knowledge and expertise. There were only a few bad eggs under several years of terrible mismanagement and toxic culture, but the current leadership is doing a great job of turning things around and recruiting additional talent onboard. If you are willing to be proactive, Zynx management does a good job of supporting career progression and professional development within the organization, even for entry-level employees. There's also no shortage of help/optimization needed within the company. For those looking for hand-holding and proactive mentorship, Zynx doesn't really have the bandwidth or infrastructure for this. In terms of benefits, PTO accrual is generous especially if you've been with the company for a while, and there's no guilt tripping or passive aggression about taking time off. Work life balance is excellent.

Cons

Formal career ladders or promotion paths don't really exist, so it's up to you to advocate for your desired path and prove your worth. Hearst policy drives salary calculations based on your experience on paper and not what you are actually able to deliver. Therefore you can get high performers with less formal experience getting paid less than lower performers with many years of "experience" (which could be good for some people). While management will support upward mobility, internal promotions don't usually happen until you've already been doing the (desired) job's responsibilities for 1-2 years. Even after a formal promotion, you don't necessarily get to transition your previous responsibilities to someone else. This doesn't make sense since the same expectation wouldn't be held of someone being hired from the outside, and it doesn't really seem like a good strategy for retaining your best employees long-term. Due to the start-up-like culture, division of labor/roles/responsibilities can often be unclear. HR/benefits can be disorganized - I've known a couple of people who had issues with gaps in coverage due to this, so if you have life events or are switching coverage from a previous job, keep an eye out for this.

Pros

Excellent people with an impressive history. Philosophy and mission are what is needed in health care.

Cons

"Lost their way" after the Meaningful Use dollars dried up. Have been trying to come up with their new big thing ever since. And have failed. Multiple presidents have come and gone to try to right the ship - all have failed. We're still waiting to see if the newest one will make a difference.
