Coming from a major O&G company as a coordinator, this has been exactly the environment I craved. Alliantgroup actually holds people accountable to its core values and it is amazing what being bought into that culture can do for your professional development. We move fast and drive everyone to be the absolute best they can be. I have grown more technically and professionally here in 3 months than I did in 3 years at Exxon. The work is extremely rewarding and you have a team to help you balance the work even during tax season. My team never stayed past 8pm during my first tax season and that was very rare. Compared to engineering turnarounds, the hours aren’t crazy. If you are continuing to invest in the firm and in yourself, they are very flexible and understanding like any other job would be. After 3 months with alliantgroup, I’m on track to be promoted well before the end of the year. You’re able to succeed here and make it happen as fast as you want to. The feedback and transparency are what allows that to happen and you won’t improve quickly if you don’t embrace it.
Cons
This environment isn’t for everyone, just like any other consulting practice isn’t for everyone. There is a lot of urgent work that needs to be done on time and without putting in the time and effort at the beginning to get up to speed, it will be difficult to manage.
