Pros
The one and only pro will be the connections you form with your coworkers. You will trauma bond with most of them and develop life-long friendships with some. I guess the benefits are ok, but there will be no time to actually make good use of them. While you're told that there is 15 days of PTO, it is NOT a guarantee. Your manager gets to decide whether your request for time off is approved or not. *whispers* it's not always approved. Your compensation offer may be sweet, but rest assured that whatever salary you are being paid will not account for the insanely long hours, sleepless nights, and complete lack of work/life balance.
Cons
Glassdoor happens to be the bane of this company’s existence because they can’t control the narrative here. My strongest piece of advice? Talk to someone currently within the company (or someone who has worked here) that you trust to give you an honest outlook. The responses are almost always the same. Dismal Getting a job here isn’t particularly difficult. If you know how to be peppy and talk a lot, you can easily get through the interview process. You are far more likely to be hired on because you are a cultural fit, instead of being hired on for commensurate experience (and to be honest, you don’t need any experience to be successful at any role here). Most employees are actually misled during the interview process. Recruiters are told to make roles more attractive (from vague job descriptions to straight dishonesty during the hiring process) to pull in “top talent”. Do you want to be pigeon-holed in your career? Because that’s exactly what will happen to you if you come here. This is a frighteningly horrible place to work and getting out is difficult. The skills you gain in positions at this company are largely unmarketable. Having this place on your resume quite literally makes employers avoid you. A number of individuals in leadership have no choice but to remain here because they can't get jobs elsewhere. Most of my counterparts who have been lucky enough to escape have had to fabricate their experiences here in order to land interviews elsewhere. You’ll notice that employee tenure here is either incredibly short or incredibly long. Almost no inbetween. That’s a HUGE red flag. The ONLY marketable skills you will gain is the ability to work under acute and debilitating pressure, and the ability to lie. Alliantgroup employees are taught to be dishonest with clients from the very beginning of training in sketchy and covert ways. Leadership likes to coerce its employees to lie to clients about the complexity of the services offered and the amount of time we spend on client work (all unethical billing stories mentioned are 1000% correct). In fact, a tenant to your promotion will include a presentation in which you bolster the services we offer as a company in an effort to retain clients. All in all, if you have long term career goals, and don’t want to settle for scraps, do not come here. No amount of money offered can make this place worth it. Every single person that I work with is miserable. And I don’t just mean in the entry-level positions. Every single person, in every department whether in leadership or not is experiencing misery. And while leadership will never admit this, the repeated mental breakdowns across the company is proof. The workload is unbearable, and that is a continued problem that has never been dealt with. The company adds in additional service lines that they cannot fully deliver on, and expect employees to pick up the slack. Entire departments have been shifted into other roles just to attempt to keep up with the sheer volume of work. The company began rapidly hiring out-sourced, cheap labor to attempt to keep up with the demand of the work, and even that is failing. All the departments suffer from high turn-over, but leadership will say the job is not for everyone. They’re right. The jobs here are not for ANYONE. Employees are treated no better than cattle, and it's all wrapped up in a pretty office building in a prime location. Leadership will depend on you, the employee, to come up with solutions to problems that they have created. You will be asked to provide input in regards to problems that leadership did not have the foresight to prepare for. Your willingness to do this will be used in discussions about your promotion and overall tenure at the company. You will be expected to be successful in your role, bill unethically, develop solutions for every issue that pops up, all while being accessible to clients at all times. While this isn’t impossible, it will eventually take a toll on you. And if you’re able to keep up with these unreasonable demands (while receiving no additional benefits or money or even praise and gratitude), your personal life will definitely suffer. When you look to leadership in these moments, they will not offer you a shred of support. While the Company boasts of a diverse workforce, being successful in a “higher-up” or leadership position almost always requires you to be a white man. So yes, alliantgroup employs a lot of women and a lot of people of color, but they don’t last very long. I have watched some incredibly strong people crumble here. If you yourself are not subject to complete disrespect and bullying, you will watch it happen, repeatedly, to others around you. And eventually, you will be asked to participate in the bullying, gossip and misogynistic and racist practices. It’s really disheartening when I think about some of the insane things that have occurred at this company. I promise you, nothing will make working at this place worthy of the sacrifice to self. Do yourself and the people in your life a favor and keep looking.
