If you are a Developer, forget everything you learned because it does not apply here. There is no process, planning or ability to effectively execute. Everything is a fire drill. If you have any talent at all you will be pulled from one fire to the next, and expected to work unbelievable hours with zero compensation. There is no such thing as requirements. The business owner will tell you what they need, verbally. And, don't document it because, you will just be laughed at, because it will change a half a dozen times.
There are some good people that work there and I feel really sorry for them.
The management does not know how to manage and the atmosphere is very unprofessional. You have about 20% of the IT staff working diligently and the rest having battles with nerf guns, and management thinks of it as team building.
Did I say management does not know how to manage? Agile is a word meaning - we have all this work to get done in our two week sprint, even-though it's six months worth of work. If you are working on something today, don't come in tomorrow and expect to be working on it, in fact, don't go to lunch and expect to be working on it when you come back. If you are still working on it you must be incompetent.
If you want to offer some advice on how the organization could be improved, don't. You will not get any feedback and will only be ostracized.
There are no HR policies. The work policies change from manager to manager. You can work from home, on Saturdays and Sundays. If you are not sitting at your desk you must not be working, unless you are having nerf gun battles.
What is the priorities of the organization? Don't worry about it. In five minutes, it will change. And, the things that could really help the business will not be included.
All in all. There are plenty of good companies in the valley to work for, unfortunately this is not one of them. It could be, but it is not.
