Pros

One of my main concerns about working with a large company is whether or not they care about how happy you are working there. Engagement is a key concern, and I see management trying earnestly to improve. They have frequent agent appreciation days ( ice cream days... snack days... games and more treats! )

Cons

But.... pay-wise it's hard to argue that we're not getting paid as well as other companies with same positions. Tried applying to a different department but there seems to be budget issues so apparently external applicants are favored over internal ones so they can get paid less... I don't know, this is the word in the office so I don't know how true it is. It IS discouraging when you know you can do a good job but don't at least get an interview...

Pros

-Will pay you full salary for a month while they give you a course on how to pass licensing, as well as pay for your exam which costs several hundred dollars. This is not industry standard, in my opinion it makes the company a huge attraction for anyone new to the industry attempting to get a foothold. Just don't mess around during this month and cancel your social life as if you do not pass licensing you cannot sell insurance in Canada and will be let go. -Pay has become much more competitive since 2021. Prior to that it was more of an employer's market so Belair were very cheap -Meritocracy for the most part. I see some people complaining about management playing favorites with opportunities but honestly when it comes to leadership that is every company and social situation..being popular and well liked is necessary for that type of role. Personally I am not that type so much but I am produce strong results and show integrity, and as a result have never had difficulty obtaining all different sorts of development opportunities. -Great benefits -Mostly work from home. Was full WFH during covid but they're heading back to a one day a week in- office system. These corporations are all convinced that employees need a job that also provides them with a Kool aid drenched social life or the business model will fall apart.

Cons

-Typical corporate koolaid culture. No different from any other large corporation but still annoying. -Sales driven. This is a pro if you are good, but if you are not good with customers or willing to put in the work to develop those skills you will not get regular raises or development opportunities. -No commission. Your pay is pure salary and while you will get little rewards such as gift cards throughout the year and a better raise/bonus at year end for good performance, you cannot expect to see any of the money you bring in added directly to your paycheque no matter how much you sell.
