Let me break it to you what embedUR does to your personal life and future career: Personal life: ========== 1. No time to spend with your family. Since the manager is spending most of his time in the office, he expects us to do the same. 2. Manager never allow us a weekend free. We need to come and work even on sundays and we never should ask for a comp-off. If we ask for a comp-off, the salary hike would be reduced. 3. Never ever believe the HR people here. They project the company in a different way during the campus placements. You will end up working for the company for more than 12hours a day. There are 3 major teams and out of which 2 teams will definitely be working more than 12hrs a day and 6 days in a week. If we take leave during some important phases of the project for personal reasons, the management would send the laptops along with 3g dongle to do the work from home itself. Future Career: =========== 1. There are 3 teams out of which one team is primarily working on testing the products of other companies. Yes..they do the software testing. 2. rest of the two teams work on either bug fixing or porting. In bug fixing, you will learn the code of the product but you will never learn to code a new feature independently. Your coding skills will be seriously declined after joining this company. In porting, you will be coding thousands of lines of code without knowing what the code would do. You will copy and paste the code. Change the format and certain variables. Compile it and test it. If it works fine, then you will move to the other code and do the same. You will never have time to learn something. 3. NO TRAINING given to any freshers. When i joined here, we were never given any training at all. We directly jumped to a live project in our 2nd week itself. I wonder how the customers believe and give projects to embedUR. Because most of the employees dont know anything about basic C stuff. 4. embedur india doesnt have any products of its own. 5. all sorts of micro-management will be done here at this company. We had to carry out certain test cases whcih needed basic equipments and these were not available in our labs. So we requested the customer to spare their setup. The next day, the managers were speaking to us harshly that we shouldn't have mailed like that stating the non-availability of equipments at embedUR. If you come early and are planning to leave early, you wont be allowed. You need to work more than 12 hrs and then only you can leave. Infrastructure: =========== 1. Internet speed at embedur india and as well as embedur US is poor. you will face random conenctivity problems in India and if you tell this system admins, they will not respond at all. 2. You will be having a used really old laptop which restarts frequently. These laptops are being used even after their time is up. 3. There are no wifi products which are owned by embedur in India. Most of the switches and wireless routers(for use by the employees) present in India office are those products of other companies which came for testing. because investing in those products would be costly right?? 4. Free snacks and free tea/coffee -> please avoid it at any cost. It really tastes bad , unhygienic and even after complaining to the management several time didnt produce any fruitful result. 5. There will be no privacy when you work. You will not be having closed cabins. instead it will be like a set of tables and chairs. 6. Conference rooms could not even accommodate more than 20 people. Whenever you enter the conference room, you have to bring chairs from other places by yourself and after the meeting is over, you have to take back the chairs. 7. Most of the chairs in embedur are bad in condition. 8. Cafeteria in embedur India,where you can bring and eat your own food, is small. 9. No reserved parking space in the building. So you cant park your car. Only bikes can be parked inside the building of 6 floors(of which only part of 2 floors belong to embedur). You would have to come early to park your bikes. Else you have to leave your bike somewhere else outside. 10. The office is located at the centre of the city and you would see lots of traffic around these places. very difficult for commuting. No nearby places to stay economically. 11. Most of the IT companies provide free food during weekends. But here there are no such concept as free food. 12. We come by 9AM and have to sit inside the burning heat for one hour without AC. The security people wouldn't turn on the AC until 10AM. Dont know why this rule exists if the company time is from 9AM till 6:30Pm(official time)-> usual working time of most employees(9:30am till 10pm). 13. There is no diversity in the office. 70+ guys with 4girls. 14. After some 2 years only, they have put UPS in the company. In the initial period, random power cuts would terminate the work you have done and you would have to redo your work.
