I developed a very thick skin, and learned how to work in extremely stressful environments. Also, I now know the warning signs to look for to avoid this kind of business in the future.
Cons
I was lied to about the current state of the business during my interview. The salary they offered me to move cross-country wasn't even realistic given the state of the business. My ideas were almost entirely dismissed out of hand. The CEO used the phrase "WTAWTAW" (Where there is a will there is a way) to dictate impossible deadlines with no understanding of the work required (or input from the team). The CEO often screamed at and belittled employees during meetings. Most days, I spent 12 hours in the office. There was absolutely no work/life balance. Two months into my employment, the CEO announced that they were cutting everyone's salary to minimum wage until further notice.
