Pros

- Your coworkers, who you will bond with over the asinine top-level management, will be amazing. - If you're the type who reacts well in a "sink or swim" environment who can also handle micromanagement, you can do a lot at gamigo. - It can be a decent stepping stone into the games industry for live-ops community or product management, if you don't get chewed up or burnt out.

Cons

If you want to make games, do not work here. The business model is to acquire games, pare them down so they can be managed by a monetization "expert", and then make money until its no longer profitable. Development work is focused on creating events or items. Game Design is non-existent. This isn't bad necessarily, its just not games development. But on top of this, gamigo does the bare minimum for its employees. Its a poster child for penny-wise but dollar short. Computers fail regularly and are either patched or replaced with the bare minimum specs required for their jobs. Promotions do happen, sometimes without raises and rarely with appropriate training. If a raise does happen its "yay, an extra 200 per year". Yet somehow there is always money for a new acquisition or fancy gadget for management. Daily-life is dictated by three top-level managers who rarely agree with each other, or themselves from the day before. Priorities change daily, if not hourly, and people who try to bring any kind of order or structure to this are sidelined, burn themselves out, or are often simply fired. Except for cost-savings initiatives. These are always prio#1, although there doesn't seem to be any understanding of what the impact of these initiatives are (positive or negative). Going the extra mile is essentially punished. Work late voluntarily one evening because of a live issue? This now is a regular expectation, but no its not compensated. Decline a meeting outside of core-hours? It must be because you're lazy and not a team player. Everyone is overworked, but are so caught up in it all that they're unable to escape.

Dear Ex-Colleague, thank you for your thorough and constructive feedback, as this is the only way, that we, as a company, can work on our weaknesses and/or further work on our strenghts. We are glad to hear, that you enjoyed the collaboration with your coworkers and that gamigo was, for you, a good place to learn and develop yourself further. Nevertheless there were also some critical aspects mentioned by you, that we can’t fully agree with. The gamigo group is a games publisher and this has been the business model from the beginning of its founding. This means that games are being acquired and published. Some are very successful and some might prove in time to be less successful. The gamigo group has never claimed to be a games developer and this is always communicated clearly and upfront to every new joiner or in the interviews, giving everyone the possibilty to choose if he/she can identify with the business model and the products of the gamigo group. Regarding the topic hardware: we are doing our best, as a company, to offer all the employees a hardware that is suitable for their needs and their jobs. We are trying also, as a company, to be as sustainable as possible, this means, that sometimes, hardware can be recycled. But this doesn’t mean, that the hardware is broken or malfunctioning. „Promotions“ was also a critical topic mentioned by you. All the evaluations of the employees are based on their performance and rest assured, that the assessment of each employee is very fair and based on facts and numbers/KPI‘s. As for the overtime, calls outside of working hours or colleagues who, as you mentioned, burnt themselves out: we, as a company, do not encourage it, as we care about the work life balance of each employee but we would for sure appreciate, should such situations occur, to be informed immediately about it. Otherwise we can’t support or intervene. We feel sorry, that you didn’t come to us at an earlier stage, as our doors are open for all the employees and the discussions are being treated at all times confidentially. Even if you are not employed within the gamigo group anymore, we would be happy if you would reach out to us under hr@gamigo.com. Wishing you all the best on your future endeavours and hope to hear from you soon! The gamigo group HR team

Pros

They showed me how not to be treated for my next job.

Cons

They would give higher titles which came with more work and no pay increase. They would start off community managers at 22K per year which is 2/3 below industry standard at the time for a qualified community manager. Raises were rarely given, and when they were, it was literally cents per hour. After being stupidly loyal for 8 years, working 12-14 hours a day on multiple games and in multiple languages, I was unceremoniously laid off along with dozens of others. The upper management has no clue what our jobs were, which must have been the determining factor on who was cut and then resulted in the downfall of the games we all worked on. Only 3 of the games are still at gamigo today with over 8 being closed down or sold off since.
