Pros

Competitive salary , it’s not prison.

Cons

Horrible management culture .!!Managers / supervisors here do absolutely nothing and care absolutely zero about the ppl under them . They don’t promote based on merit or experience or anything logical . They promote based on looks and how good you kiss butt . I witnessed dozens of people way more qualified get overlooked for advancement while cuter younger ppl with no exp would climb right up . The management likes their cushy do nothing existence so they only promote ppl who won’t rock the boat . And. If you have any complaints or concerns they don’t want to hear it . And the Hr dept is completely useless as well if you have any issues . They have a Manager who is basically a pedophile who is known to hit on all the young girls there and the Hr dept and Management don’t care . People are constantly complaining about him but management prefers to keep him because it’s more convienent then training someone ethical . The company as whole tries to paint itself as this new age forward thinking googleesque company but it’s just another warehouse job. The wages are decent and they have free coffee . If that’s what your looking for and you can keep your head down and work and not give a dam about advancement then it’s a decent place to work . The trick to working there is to not give a dam just like the managers and especially the upper management who are running the Elgin branch into the ground with their apathy .

iHerb Response

While we thank you for the time you took to share your feedback and point of view, we strongly disagree with most of your comments and input (though we do agree that our salaries are very competitive, our coffee is free, and our warehouse is climate-controlled, to boot!). iHerb promotes qualified team members with the experience and skills required for supervisor and above positions. The most-qualified for the role(s) are hired and promoted to the role(s). Team members in all iHerb locations have HR Partners on-site responding to their work questions and address any issues, and if a (rare) disagreement arises, there's the opportunity (per the Open Door Policy) to share it beyond the local HR to Corporate HR. We simply don't see what you claim to have seen, and team members from Elgin have shared comments in team surveys that talk of their satisfaction and directly contradict the picture you tried to paint. We hope you find happiness in your new job opportunity.

Pros

iHerb pays 100% of medical benefits for you and your immediate family. They are generous with vacation accruals. Salaries are generous.

Cons

The company continues to operate with a small-business, "mom-and-pop" mentality despite its growth. Leadership is highly centralized, with most decisions driven by the CEO. Employees often perceive that those who are not viewed favorably by leadership are eventually managed out of the organization. There is a culture of fear around speaking up, as many employees worry about potential negative consequences to their employment. Favoritism among leaders is frequently observed, and advancement opportunities can be limited for individuals who are not part of the preferred inner circle.
