Pros

If you just say "yes" to everything that comes across your plate you can collect a pay check without doing any work. The CTO changes priorities so quickly and randomly that no one will notice. This strategy has been working well for development management for a long time.

Cons

Revolving door of talent. Look at the reviews, no one who works in the Irvine office is happy. Management has done so much cultural damage to the iHerb brand no one with any sense wants to work for the company in southern California. As result they are outsourcing every role they can outside of the US.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback. We do want to address the important issue of offshore/outsourcing you bring up. At iHerb, we have aspired to expand our team in Shanghai and do this rather as a partnership and an extension to the Irvine team. Most teams do close cross-collaboration across the board between the Irvine and Shanghai tech and product teams. They have been partnering up, sharing experiences and learning best practices from each other. This has inspired either side to share their perspective from both a product and tech vision and experience. Most significant tech companies have employed this model one way or another and as a result, eBay, Google, Airbnb all have extensions in sites such as China where there is an active pool of talent to tap into. We have neither nor intend to move any Irvine jobs to Shanghai, but rather expand our talent to be able to address the ever-increasing demands of a globally thriving eCommerce.
