Pros

Positive and encouraging work culture. For example, I spent at least a few weeks huddled down on a complicated project, and when I finally got it working I was very happy to be congratulated by most of the people on my team and some people on other teams as well. Sometimes programming problems can feel isolating if you're the only one working on a given problem, so it was nice to see that other people were paying attention and cared. The iSpot product is big and fairly complex, so there's always more to learn about and more to do, which is a good thing. Everyone I asked questions of was more than willing to take time to help out. Your coworkers want to see you succeed. My boss wanted to see me succeed. That means a lot. The people I worked with outside of engineering were friendly and capable and doing good work as well. Honestly, I never had a negative experience with anyone at the company. Benefits and amenities are great: 25% 401k matching, which didn't seem like a lot at first, but it's not capped, so they'll contribute up to $4k or so. Optional HSA which they'll contribute to, Dependent Care FSA, solid health insurance, unlimited PTO. Company Udemy pass, and an hour every week to spend learning whatever you want. I used the Udemy pass all the time to learn more about what I was working on. I was able to work from home when I needed to around doctor's appointments etc, though it isn't encouraged. Shower and locker room / bike storage. Good snacks and coffee.

Cons

iSpot is a relatively young company that's grown tremendously and I think is still finding its way. There's plenty to improve on, but I think the desire to improve is there. From my perspective (starting out in an entry level position) there wasn't a whole lot of hand holding. So I think you need to be pretty self directed, flexible, and comfortable with ambiguity. I got support when I really needed it, but to a large degree I was left to figure things out on my own, which was a good learning experience for me. If you're not comfortable with that, I could see it being hard.

The work mixes creativity and data-driven decisions. I like the team-centric environment and the variety of projects. There are real chances to develop new skills here. The benefits and work-life balance are good.

Cons

Product releases and campaign launches bring a lot of pressure.
