Pros

-If you are 55 and above it is a great place to work because: 1. Most people are not held accountable 2. There are probably greater number of slackers than you 3. Lay offs have reduced in the recent yrs 4. Good bloated pay checks 5. Company is surviving because of a few top quality engineers

Cons

1. Unqualified people are promoted, making the middle-level management extremely weak 2. Ass-kissing is a must. If you don't chances are there is no career advancement 3. Abuse of authority by people who should not have it in the first place 4. In order to get promoted, one has to be part of the good ol' boy network 5. Company is so busy with acquisitions they are forgetting to improve in-house existing talent 6. People do not work as a team or towards a common goal because every employee is rated against others when it comes to performance evaluations (old motorola methods) 7. Good talent is not appreciated or rewarded (excepting people who follow con #2 mentioned here)

Pros

Decent pay. Stock options. Good co-workers. Diverse workforce.

Cons

Constant layoffs. They will lay off thousands of employees then make huge billion dollar+ accusations. IT department is a toxic cesspool. CIO manages based on "Vibes" perception, and impressions. He does not provide clear direction but then gets upset if you do not read his mind. A total rule by fear environment. They constantly are threatening to let you go if you don't fall in line. They fire anyone who disagrees with them or shows any backbone or stands up for themselves. So Senior IT management is full of "Yes men" afraid to stick their necks out. Most regular employees just keep their heads down. AVOID THE IT DEPARTMENT AT ALL COSTS.
