The technical work is interesting, and you're given latitude to explore. The key engineers are extremely bright and talented.
Cons
Disagreement isn't handled in the open. Employees' work is closely surveilled, and there is pressure to justify yourself at every turn. Asking about money always seems to annoy the management, like they're trying to hide reckless spending, for example millions to rent a house in the mountains. The humor started to die. Definitely an unstable workplace where people commonly get dismissed with little reason, or where people get jaded and turn over. After the rebrand, the whole project was adrift without a customer, and the direction we went was much more a reflection of who we happened to have on hand and what they happened to be able to do than a reflection of actual market needs. It's unclear whether any of the tech is even going to work well enough to productize. It's unclear how serious the leadership is about managing the people and delivering a product, or whether it's a vanity project at this point. There is a close cabal at the top who are tied by bonds of family, former ventures, and religion, and if you're not a member of that group, you're disposable.
