Pros

TalentReef is a good company for those looking to start in the SaaS industry but definitely not a place I recommend long-term. If you are looking to get your foot in the door for the industry, this is the place. But as soon as you gather enough skills, run.

Cons

During my time at TalentReef, I saw a lot of toxicity as well as mismanagement. There is a very strong “clique-culture” in management. A lot of people get away with things they wouldn’t get away with in other workplaces. There’s also a level of “nepotism” in the company. Where if you know the right person or are related to someone important in the company, you can move through roles at an accelerated pace. Don’t expect your manager to actually manage you, because they’re also overworked. Around 7 people left a single department in a matter of 3-4 months and management acts as though they had no idea why that happened. A good manager should know when their team isn’t happy or when morale is low and take appropriate action to address. It doesn’t matter how many times you ask your leadership to hire more people, they won’t listen until it’s far too late and you are moving on to another company. It’s a vicious cycle of hiring new talent to compensate for those leaving. TalentReef pretends they don’t overwork and underpay 80% of their employees. The audacity of the responses on some of these reviews - to blatantly lie and say TalentReef pays “above market salary” or “competitive pay” is upsetting. TalentReef for a fact will underpay about $20,000 for most roles. You’ll get an initial pay bump and then perhaps get a 1% annual increase if you’re lucky and they like you. I can already imagine the same organic response from the CEO’s assistant saying: “TalentReef has a fast-paced environment, and we recognize that not everyone thrives in that situation.” as if it would excuse overworking anyone at mediocre pay. I completely lost faith in this company when they told employees no one would be laid off at the start of COVID-19 and then lay off & furlough a large number of its employees the following week. Hard to trust a company that does that. They actually had another round of layoffs as well, but it seems it just comes down to “priorities” since they can afford to send their sales reps to trade shows in Vegas & Hawaii.
