Co-workers and patients ok, understaffed

Pros

I like my co-workers. The facility is beautiful and I like the work. Watching patients get better throughout the rehabilitation process is very rewarding. Bonuses are offered when you pick up extra shifts if there is a call-off, and there is the opportunity for over-time pay since the company is always short staffed. The benefits are good. Health insurance starts on day one and there is company contribution matching for 401(k). It is a good place for a new nurse to learn the basics.

Cons

Patients are too acute to have 10:1 patient ratio, especially on day shift. The company mandates if there is a call-off and no one to cover the next shift. Day shift CNAs have bad attitudes and there is little support from the nurse manager. Also, the nurse manager does not have "thank you" as part of her vocabulary.

Pros

3 day a week schedule. Close to home. Pay is not too bad. Lots of good co-workers. Across the street from Huntsville hospital

Cons

Have to find replacement on your own if you want a weekend off. Management not understanding when you have to stay late to catch up on paperwork.

Pros

None that I can think of.

Cons

.Horrible place to work.Patient load is ridiculous.Nurses are not treated with respect. You are working 14 hrs.days trying to catch up on tasks. They only care about number of patients they admit. They admit many patients that are not rehab.material and keep them 2wks.which is pretty much all insurance will cover.
