The DET straight up lied about the job when I applied. Said it was a standard 9-5, M-F, with occasional weekend or evening hours for events, and that he prioritized work-life balance. This was not true — at least not for me. If I wanted to leave work on time instead of staying late because my boss kept postponing a meeting... I'd get asked, "what do you have to do that's so important?" and if he didn't like the answer, I would get written up. I was asked to do unethical things often. I was expected to always be available via phone, teams, or email. I reported him to HR multiple times, and there was never any change or consequences because it wasn't "egregious" enough. I was the only woman, the only member of management without kids, the only person of color, and the only openly queer person at my property. I was objectified, berated, and treated inequitably because of it. While I would have to beg weeks in advance to be able to work remotely, everybody else on the management team would get to work 1-3 times a week remotely without previous notice. Sometimes they would say that they were working remotely because they were sick and be offline for 5+ hours and not have to use any sick time. If I had to miss one Sunday of work because I had pneumonia around the holidays, then I had to use PTO and work on NYE.
