They have no idea where their talent is. Poor management at some locations. Pay is pretty ok, it's not a "real job" at these wages. It's good for a student or someone starting out. Constant training without pay increases. Always want you to do more and more. Long shifts. Management isn't accountable for ANYTHING but covering their own asses. Work full time hours but will NEVER be hired full time. No benefits for part time employees. I've worked at a number of the small and large locations over my years with PSAV small locations are better and management actually helps out. Though those jobs rarely come up. Ive worked at the big 3 in Toronto -
Westin Harbour Castle - Wow management are complete jerks, each one worse than the last. EGO MANIACS, only care about themselves. Lots of turnover a few lifers. Hate working this property.
Sheraton Centre - I've never seen a lazier management staff in my life. Thankful I just filled in there. Solid group of techs every time Ive been, but a lot of turnover, a couple of lifers. The horror stories they tell about the lazy management are more than true from what I've seen. Would never consider working here full time which according to all the techs there who work overtime hours with 0 benefits you shouldn't either.
Royal York - The best of the bunch by far. Solid staff little turnover. Management works their ass of there and is not afraid to help out. Hours seem plentiful. They have both full and part time staff. Willing to bring in help when needed.
Overall the biggest con is that they just use techs and don't care. Company wide unwillingness to hire full time employees yet many part timers work full time hours. It should be illegal and probably is. No bonuses ever. Unfair work practices at times. Overtime after 44 hours instead of after 8 in a day like all of the other big AV guys. Dont expect any money in slow times youre not full time so the dont care.
