Don't trust HR

Pros

Co-workers are great. HR is not.

Cons

HR Managers are very untrustworthy. Don't believe recruiters. Ask to speak with future co-workers regarding management, especially if you plan to work with. Trust is very important in supporting user engagement. No wonder engagement is low. Don't be fooled. Talk to current employees.

Pros

The HR function is getting more respect and a lot of that has to do with my Manager. Still pockets of the old style of management (Actuant bought us 2 years ago). Most functions outside of HR Operations do not know what to do

Cons

The strategy doesn't reach all levels of the company. The bonus program looks good but has not been paid out in full in 2 years

Pros

Most of the senior leadership team of Actuant from the CEO down are approachable and easy to speak with. The pay is OK, but does vary by business unit. Bonus system is very good when it pays out. Lots of good employees.

Cons

They look outside to fill leadership positions instead of filling them more from within The performance review system is terrible The bonus system drives short term thinking. This is a major problem for a company wanting to be more innovative. New managers from larger, outside companies are having a negative impact on the culture. Corporate politics are taking over.
