Pros

Fun coworkers. They got me through.

Cons

This job was the worst. They had me working 70-80 hour weeks with no overtime. They would take my carrier off a load and ruin a long-standing relationship just to make an extra $10. Then when that carrier didn't want to work with them again, they'd wonder why. It amazed me! Do yourself a favor and don't bother working here! You'll regret it if you do.

Sucked into the Venus Flytrap

Pros

Some of my very best friends were found while working here. This seems to be a consistent theme of all reviews of England Logistics. That's because that is usually the one bright spot that can be found in the day to day drudgery of this place. I will say that I did learn (the hard way) that no one else is looking out or cares about my career but me. This has assisted me in the time since I left there. I learned that I need to control my own fate because I am the one person truly invested in my career.

Cons

As referred to in the title of the review, EL is like a Venus Flytrap: very pretty when you look at it from afar, but if you get too close, it traps you and crushes you until you have no life left. I have seen too many people come into the environment, full of life and hope for the future, only to be torn down by unattainable goals and managers who lack the skills to properly mentor employees. Employees are expected to work long hours with no extra compensation or even positive reinforcement for a job well done and told that hiring extra help is unnecessary. I slaved for years under the assumption that I was a team player, only to realize that I was actually just a really cheap mule. It wasn't until I left and worked for a company that actually cared about employee welfare that I realized that all that EL worried about was money and not employees. Employees hired during the recession have been brain washed into thinking that they have to stay with the company because there is nothing else better out there, when, in fact, there are a lot of great companies out there looking for them.
