Pros

I think the best part of this job is the stability of the company. They have been in business for a long time. I came from a start up and I worked very hard, but didn't get paid for the last two months I was there. The management is a young team, as far as experience, so a learning curve to go through, but I have found them to be open and honest with all dealings I have had. I like the job, even though it is a numbers game, but what sales job isn't. It takes picking up the phone and talking to people and following up to be successful here. More of a mind over matter type of thing. I like the opportunity to make money and advance based on my own efforts.

Cons

I think one of the big challenges here is the ramp and sometimes there is turnover you don't expect. I have worked in other inside sales jobs and turnover is a fact of life. You can almost pick who will make it and who won't based on attitude and activity. I have read some of the comments here and I am guessing they are people who left unhappy. I think that can be seen as a con of working here. People leave here and then write terrible comments online. Sometimes it can be discouraging, but what helps me is I talk to the people on the phone who I am working with or calling as prospects, it lightens the day. If you think positive and work on hitting a goal, you usually end the day on a good note.

Pros

Those on the floor are a hard working group of people who are very talented at what they do. There is great potential to grow as a company, if they would invest in their employees, and listened to them. Great place to gain experience in the transportation industry.

Cons

When the former President left to become the CEO of CR England, so did the hope of keeping this brokerage at the top of it's class. Management has no idea what is actually taking place on the sales floor. They tout growth, and claim to hit record numbers, but I think that most stats are padded. They do not invest in their employees. It basically lives up to the nickname "Cut Throat Island". The ramp attainment is unreasonable, and punishes those who have worked there for more than a year. Those who have tenure will make less and less the longer that they work for England. England is perceived as a brief layover to gain experience towards an actual career. It has become nothing more than a glorified call center. You are forced to make a certain number of phone dials everyday, and they look at quantity rather than quality. Sink or swim mentality. HUGE turnover rate. Expensive benefits. High stress, and not a place that you would want to stay for long.

Pros

Started off as a fun atmosphere but quickly diminished. Everyone that started with me had high hopes. We were told as account managers we would make around 65k our first year… Not even close. You get a 40k base but commissions are nonexistent. They try to make things "fun" with games and activities but the best thing there seems to be the Ping Pong table… if your into that…. Company could be great, as it brings in a lot of money each year and seems to be growing but the Cons far outweigh the pros.

Cons

There always seems to be some way the commissions are messed up. Most end up having to continually track your sales and what you should get paid on and then hassle management to get the report fixed so you get paid. They promise promotions within but that is a lie. They keep hiring outside of the company for management and bring in these people that have no idea what is going on and expect them to lead. It also says a lot about a company when you are considered a veteran after being there one year. The longest tenured account manager has been with the company roughly 3 years and has no chance of advancement. If you make it to Senior Account Manager, forget getting promoted. You make the company too much money to move up and if you don't make SAM quickly then you are fired. All in all this company could be fun and enjoyable, the work isn't bad and if a few things were changed it could be a good career. Management won't act though. They feel nothing is "broken" so we shouldn't try to fix it. We still bring in millions a year and the VPS get a handsome bonus while employees get a gift card to Wal-Mart for $25. As people come to the company they are optimistic but work here for a month or so and you will soon realize you need to find something else. Everyone on my floor is looking for their next job/career. Once they find it they are out and everyone is jealous. With this low morale among employees the ship of England Logistics will sink. All it would take to bring this company down is for employees to walk out and protest. No account managers…. no company.
