Pros

Decent pay, at least till temporary (!) manager who disliked me was given jurisdiction of annual reviews. Flexible schedules. Decent PTO if you're actually able to take it.

Cons

Culture of denial. Limited opportunity for meaningful advancement. HR lied to avoid resolving a crucial conflict. Disrespect for hourly employees and a visible "caste system" (classism more than racism). High turnover, especially in tech ops which results in abandoned projects, broken systems that don't get fixed (reliance on workarounds that don't work), and poor response to requests for assistance. People seem to "fail upwards" based on how effectively they kiss butts. Willfully oblivious upper management. Decisions motivated by profits rather than customer service. PAYDAY LOANS, people.

Pros

They print money. Getting hardware needed for a project was never an issue. Ping pong tables, espresso machines, free snacks, breakfast foods, weekly hot breakfast sandwiches, etc.

Cons

Very political. Management views employees as cattle rather than as pets. The review process is adversarial at best. The supposed one over one review holds nasty surprises for people that aren't in any way based on performance, but could be scuttled entirely by someone in upper management on a personal whim.

Pros

Convenient downtown location. The company is walking distance from all CTA and Metra stations. The casual dress code is a perk.

Cons

The employees working in the Operations Department are treated like employees in an electronic sweatshop. No sick days. Some departments in Operations are infested with bed bugs.
