Pros

The work is satisfying and everyone makes an impact. You are afforded the opportunity to learn and improve and can get plenty of help when you need it. The company is big on personnel safety, almost painfully so. There is plenty of room for advancement if you are willing to work hard and accept the responsibility. People are retiring left and right which creates openings for aspiring people.

Cons

There are major accountability issues. No one really seems to be held accountable for anything. Managers, supervisors, and individual contributors go to meetings late and unprepared without consequence. Bargaining unit employees are especially exempt from accountability. Completely useless employees with years of documented problems can't be touched as the company is afraid to make waves with the union. The lack of an accountability culture also means people tend to not own and fix many issues under their control, which is frustrating. Part of this is due to under-staffing. Staffing would probably be sufficient, but based on the amount of bureaucracy, it is hard to get work done which means we need more people. Finally, as with any utility, there are times when you are going to have to work nights and weekends.

Pros

The people who work here are great, most coworkers I have are wonderful to work with and all of my direct supervisors have been understanding, helpful, and caring.

Cons

Upper management does not listen to employees whatsoever, For example, one senior vice president changed his organization to onsite rather than hybrid, Many people migrated to other areas in the company, and instead of listening to employee feedback, this SVP has poisoned the well by getting his cohort(s) to change their organizational structure to onsite with less than 4 weeks notice. The whole process has been handled haphazardly and emotionally. No transparency has been given, no statistics shown about how in office would provide a productivity boost. This is only one example of incompetent leadership, other examples include getting rid of office space one year and committing to the hybrid model and then increasing office presence to the point where the next year they needed to rent more office space. The examples go on forever, the bottom line is upper management does not respect their employees.
