Pros
Generally good to individuals - managers do try to take care of their people - I have seen them go out of their way to do the right thing for employees that needed it due to severe illness or other circumstance. Overall they did do a lot of things for employees that they did not need to when shutting down my plant
Cons
Plant shutdown came with 4 years 'advance notice' and the company did some good things in that time like offer a retention bonus, and transfer opportunities but once we were 2 years into that retention bonus they re-wrote the rules governing pensions in a way that hurt a lot of people, not because they had to but because they could. Never an industry leader when it comes to salary & benefits. Supervisors & management were paid less than their unionized direct reports, sometimes significantly. Overall feeling was that they offered management only as much as they absolutely needed to while being far more generous with the unions.
