Pros

The pay was decent and they manage to hire good people. I loved the people I worked with directly in my branch. The initial training was really good. There are great opportunities to move up and make good money IF you are an extremely pushy salesperson. Numbers are the ONLY way up the ladder. The company does have good core values, ultimately.

Cons

upon hire I was told the hours were 8am-6pm with an hour for lunch. 99% of the time I worked 7 or 7:30 AM until 6:30 or 7pm, some days later and on busy days I was sometimes unable to take lunch breaks at all often short staffed difficult process for requesting time off If someone was off at a branch in your area and your area was not fully staffed, you're very unlikely to get that day off, too, because you will have to cover for someone else Denied internal movement on multiple occasions due to short staffing, though I was given management responsibilities at entry pay, because of short staffing You take work home with you. I would receive calls and texts from management well after hours regarding the next day or other various issues. Very little work-life balance. Sometimes you have to call customers from your personal phone on pickups- yes I have received calls and texts from them after transactions- both business related and... less appropriate. It makes for a very uncomfortable situation. Upper management rarely has your back in customer disputes. Writing claims on damaged cars is almost always a negative situation.

Pros

• I rarely, if ever, had bad employee experiences. It really was like a family. A lot of my good friends came from my time with ERAC. • There's a mobility between branches, so you're not stuck at the same store for years on end. It's nice to have a change of scenery as a new Management Trainee. • Promotions come quick. I was promoted within 10 months of hire, having transferred from another group and having to reestablish myself and build my brand within the company. If you work hard, you will be rewarded. • Not rocket science; you learn what works and can follow this winning recipe. • They give you the tools for success - it's a great training program, but most of it is focused on your sales.

Cons

• Get ready for the grind. Expect 49+ hours a week (minimum) and having to work weekends. This makes it hard to have a work life balance. • Customers aren't coming in for tea or to enjoy a hot meal. They come in because they got in an accident, had to take time out of their day to bring their personal car to the shop, and don't understand that rental cars don't grow on trees so there might be a wait. So get ready for some "interesting" customer service experiences. • You will have to clean a car in a suite once in a while, but just don't buy ultra expensive clothing and you'll be fine. • If you want to hit six figures, expect to put in at least five years with the company.
