Pros

Multiple pros: Professional development Marketing (bc people say they know how to market until you show them how to market) Interpersonal Skills Business Management (if you have a bachelors in business this is a great option coming out of undergrad/grad school.) Leadership Problem Solving Consistency (if you don’t have it you will need to obtain it. it’s an important tool that can prove to be detrimental to your future success if not obtained) Trust (learn to trust your co workers, even the ones you don’t like.) Empathy (you’ll learn how to dissect people’s problems to try to provide some type of support)

Cons

Work Life Balance: You will spend 11-12 + hours at your branch per day. Some days better than others but nevertheless your aren’t compensated enough. You’ll understand why teachers should get paid more once you leave. Upper Management: the further you go up, you’ll notice how deeply attached/engaged Upper Management is. It’s almost as if we you’re in Jamestown and everyone is drinking the look aid, E V E R Y O N E. Education: They do not support you going back to school to earn your masters degree. They do not support you going to school for your masters degree. Either they want you to work for them forever or they don’t want you spend your time tying to better yourself. Either they want you to spend your every waking moment thinking about work or they don’t care that you’re wanting better yourself.

Great At First!

Pros

You can promote very quickly depending on your drive and the ability to move around. Pay is ok right out of college. Our company promotes from within.

Cons

You do not get to negotiate your pay, your given a ridiculous low ball commission percentage, they work the hell out of you and expect for you to perform at your best being understaff all the time. The customer is always right. Managment is always looking for the next promotion and could care less about you, and they say that you will promote solely off of numbers but that’s not true, work place politics does exist. Don’t let them sell you a dream get your experience and get out.

Exhausted from the sexism

Pros

Truly a merit based company! You control your earnings and can give yourself the pay raise! I worked really hard to move through the ranks for six years and reaped the benefits financially when I got to Branch Manager!

Cons

Absolutely zero work-life balance! You will put in 65-70 hour work weeks and senior leadership still doesn't deem this as working hard enough or will ask you to come in more. You will get tons of vacation time and receive hard pushback when you try to use it. Though the CEO is female, there is still an element of a "good old boys club" that places males in better positions for success over females, especially in leadership positions. They also understaff your branches and put leadership in tough positions with their subordinates.
