Pros

The company over all is amazing. Our senior management is incredible, communicative and accessible no matter who you are in the company. The company feels incredible stable in an economy that has been very rocky the past few years. The culture is one that wishes to support and encourage its employees but one that recognizes it will create a large alumni. This is a good thing because it means they want to arm employees with skills and experience that will help them be successful in their future positions. They are incredibly responsive and receptive to reviews and discussion. The work is never, ever, ever done but management recognizes that and does not have unrealistic expectations. Dress code is relaxed and casual. Company events are incredible and really wonderful experiences.

Cons

Not all departments are created equal. Some have a markedly easier time in terms of support and leadership from their management. There are growing pains and this start up grows into a mature company that is rapidly running out of space and ability to support a swelling head count. However, I feel confident that these pains will be addressed and are being addressed as swiftly as possible. As I said before, not all departments are created equal. There are some managers that seem woefully unequipped to handle their workforce. Communication between departments seems lacking. I would like to say this is all a part of the growing pains but some of the worst offenders have been there the longest. Pay isn't awful when you consider how stable the company is, but in a city where the cost of living is skyrocketing it is difficult to envision being able to survive, let alone thrive without scheduled cost of living adjustments.

Pros

No micro-management, freedom to make an impact every day you come to work, strong pay, outstanding benefits, growing extremely fast and it only looks to get better.

Cons

The oil and gas business is so complex and our services so intricate, that sometimes we don't fully understand the value proposition and full business impact of every product we release. However, leadership has heard our requests for help and training is stepping it up in a big way to bring us up to speed on our current and future product releases.

Pros

Because this is still a small company, developers have to know a little bit about everything. This is not the place to say "That's not my job." Great place to learn new skills and new technologies. Also a great opportunity to work with smart, happy people. Excellent benefits for a company this size. The company is stable, with good prospects for the future.

Cons

New technologies are frequently adopted by a small group of people, and the knowledge is expected to trickle down to everybody else. Group training sessions may be a more efficient method of knowledge sharing, and may lead to quicker adoption across the board.
