Pros

Great mission, awesome flexibility, annual merit increases, possibility of travel, offices all across the US (and in major cities), ability to work remotely, decent benefits!

Cons

Hard to grow professionally internally, no managerial support (no toolkits for those who have direct reports), no transparency on hiring bands (titling and compensation), no consistencies across the organization on processes and procedures as well as compensation and promotions, no pay adjustments for cost-of-living.

Pros

Very smart people and great mission. EDF has good benefits and tried to balance work with family and life. Shorter work week and generous vacation.

Cons

No growth. There is no career potential here. Promotions are only for leadership. Lot of turnover of bright young staff - they hire from ivy leagues in lowly positions, stymie their growth till they get tired of waiting and leave. Same with middle management - either you are let go because of no funding or because there is no career path.

Pros

Incredibly kind, laid back group of people, excellent to work with, friendly and comfortable office environment with a good sense of humor. The company offers a lot of little perks, good benefits, and when you travel, the company puts you up at some of the nicest hotels. The organization is effective at what it does. Overall, I enjoyed working there.

Cons

At the organizational level, program staff are treated as individuals while support staff are treated as anonymous and expendable, which I think makes it hard for the organization to retain talented staff at the lower rungs and train them up. Middle and upper operations is dysfunctional and over paid. I'd say that EDF is a GREAT place to work if you are program staff, a GREAT place to work if you are early-career support staff and have lower expectations, but frustrating if you are well-educated in a support position and want to see your education paying off.
