      My work at EPA was amazing, but the limitations in hiring and growth were setbacks.

      Pros

      The management is incredibly understanding (depending on the office you work in), great benefits, great people (again, depending on the office you work in).

      Cons

      There is some difficult in career advancement given the nature of the government; offices are often reorganized so there are "floating offices" every now and then.

      Pros

      Good for a transitional period if you want to try your luck to find a good mentor.

      Cons

      It is a very phony work place where people know very little about environmental protection. The actual leg work goes to contractors.

      Pros

      Overall, the people here are very nice, it's a work hard/play hard place. MOST people are very dedicated to their job and the mission of the agency, and it's a good feeling to know that we're all working together to protect the environment. The pay is good, benefits are good, there's on site child care. The location is safe. Overall I like it here.

      Cons

      There are a few rotten apples in the bunch. There are a few people who don't care, it's just a paycheck. They come in late, leave early, sleep all day (if they show up at all). Sometimes it's hard for the rest of us to be motivated to work when there is someone snoring in the cube next to you.
