Pros

The people at EPA tend to be extremely passionate about their work and mission-driven. I have one of the best managers and teams that I have ever worked with (though that varies by office/team). There is typically (though perhaps not under the current administration) a lot of opportunity for growth and internal advancement.

Cons

The bureaucracy and politics can be frustrating, especially for people who care so much about the issues.

Pros

The agency is a reputed name, especially for those in the environmental industry

Cons

Between mentors and supervisor details and changes, as young professional straight out of college they did not know what work to give me or how to handle my employment. While working here, I felt like my three college degrees were a waste as I was just used for admin tasks.
