Very stable employment. Benefits are okay/good by most comparisons.
Cons
Those with specialized skills are generally underpaid and under utilized. Shortages in government staffing result in highly specialized employees (especially scientists) having to do the majority of basic administrative functions. Unqualified and/or underperforming employees are more often promoted into other positions than dismissed.
