Pros

Friendly and very flexible work environment. Everyone is very educated and smart. Next to NASA, EPA has the most educated workforce.

Cons

Because this is a regulatory agency, it garners the interest of many outside groups. The work you do can be politicized. Outside political views about the Agency can also be annoying.

EPA is a 'white hat' public service job. For most who work there, it is a several-decade career (quit rates in the public sector are very low). The benefits are good and there's a good work/life balance

Cons

EPA is a political agency - they do what Congress allows them to do. As such, EPA is not a good place for 'save the world' types, because they'll just get frustrated.
