      Working with people who have a scientific background as well as an ideal to make the environment better for all mankind.

      Cons

      Difficult to reconcile political reality from nature of work. Unwieldy bureaucracy. Political appointees may be agency's bottleneck.

      Challenging work. Highly intelligent, driven, good-hearted, dedicated workforce. Your work does more than pad someone else's bottom line.

      Cons

      Pay is a quite a bit lower than private sector. Staff shortages means many roles are unfilled. Lack of funding leads to difficult choices.
