Pros

Good place to work as civil servant to further a good cause to protect the environment we and our children all live in, provides good benefits for its employees.

Cons

As with most government agencies, dealing with the bureaucracy from time to time can be challenging, pay is not as competitive as that in the private sector.

Pros

Being in the fed, EPA has great benefits. They are also a very progressive agency - good about 9/80 or 10/40 work schedules, has a recreation center to get cheap movie tickets, etc., and doing details to work in different divisions/regions is accepted.

Cons

You need to know the right people to move up. Also, it is difficult to go from DC to other regions, so it is best to start off in a region if you don't want to live in DC. The govt is going broke, so opportunities are not as abundant as they once were.
