Pros

Younger staff is super smart, especially the ones right out of college. Very pro telework and work/life balance. Pay is competitive, benefits are good and the job security is strong.

Cons

Some of the older staff are retired in place and not helpful. Management seems to jump from crisis to crisis without a clear strategy. Not too much upward mobility in a regional office, you'd have better opportunities at RTP or DC.

Pros

Driven by a mission to project human health and the environment. Opportunities for scientists, environmentalist, environmental lawyers, investigators and other professionals Some of the hardest working people I have ever met, work at the EPA Successful employees are highly self motivated

Cons

As part of the Federal government, a general lack of respect from the congress, politicians, comedians, etc. is hard to tolerate. Although some of the hardest working folks I have ever met work at EPA, there are some of the standard bureaucratic employees that give government employees a bad name here as well
