      Pros

      Good place to work as civil servant to further a good cause to protect the environment we and our children all live in, provides good benefits for its employees.

      Cons

      As with most government agencies, dealing with the bureaucracy from time to time can be challenging, pay is not as competitive as that in the private sector.

      My time at the EPA was challenging, and fulfilling, but career EPA bureaucrats were not always friendly or helpful.

      -Excellent pay (for a college student) -Minimal manager interference with work -The community among interns is fun and supportive -Schedule was flexible, as long as a put 40 hours in a week -Some co workers would go out of their way to show you the ropes and fill you in on the office social dynamics

      Cons

      -Your manager may be a slob, and is very unfriendly to interns who have no previous connection to the office.

      Pros

      EPA is perhaps the most productive, creative and accomplished federal agencies and is unparalleled - even in the private sector - for it's can do approach and ability to solve complex problems. Mainly this is due to it's ability to coordinate with public, education and private sectors seamlessly

      Cons

      No job growth. There are almost no promotional opportunities for non-supervisors and fewer and fewer in a steep pyramid scheme.
