      Pros

      Most people who work at EPA are passionate about their work and mission. The pay and benefits are pretty good compared to many other environmental jobs.

      Cons

      Politics, of course - strategic direction changes at least every couple years as priorities change. And lots of stress lately about potential layoffs and uncertainty. After the first few years, advancement is quite slow.

      Mission oriented work Effective at achieving mission over time. Most employees are mission driven There are opportunities to innovate and drive change

      Cons

      Bureaucratic hurdles to overcome. Experience highly impacted by administration in office and policy swings can be quite dramatic. American public does not fully understand or appreciate what we do.
