Pros

I have been in this business for over 20 years, and Envision Pharma is, by far, the best agency I have worked for. The culture is very friendly, informal, and supportive, as well as being exciting and innovative, and the in-house processes work like a well-oiled machine, clearly developed and built by people who really understand the business. The overall standards are set very high, so you work with some great people, and in-house training is provided for those who are starting a new career in medical writing. The positive feeling within the company means that there is very little staff turnover, and even those who leave tend to come back. The company has grown exponentially over the past 7 years, yet, despite this, the management still have a deep understanding of how to maintain a happy ship, and they provide a very comfortable environment for all. Opportunities for holding shares have been made available to all staff, and the generosity of the management team has been extraordinary.

Cons

I haven't found any down sides after almost 7 years with the company. Medical communications/publications is very demanding anyway, so there will always be the occasional long days/demanding clients/awkward authors/tight deadlines, etc, but that is the nature of this type of work - so if you feel you can't cope with that, this is not the job for you.

Envision: The Right Name for a Great Company

Pros

Envision takes its mission as a communications company seriously. External communications to and on behalf of clients are outstanding, thanks to creative concenpts, competent and qualified staff, and attentive quality control. Internally, regular town hall-type meetings keep staff up to date with the state of the business and offer opportunities for questions/comments at all levels. This boosts morale, as do highly competitive events such as the annual chili and chowder competitions, along with non-competitive but fun summer and winter get-togethers. Leadership comes from the top and Envision adroitly manages challenges --think firewalls, international scope of work, 24-hour scheduling--that have proved almost insuperable to other agencies. Best of all, Envision offers a unique technology that puts it streets ahead of other agencies. Salaries, benefits and working conditions are are the very top of the industry.

Cons

Hard to think of one at the moment. When the commute turned out to be difficult, the company bent over backwards to make sure that I, like many other remote workers, had everything necessary to be fully integrated into the workforce.

A truly awful company to work for

Pros

I’m genuinely struggling to think of any positives; I suppose it’s not as bad if you work from home, or are a remote worker – you will at least be sheltered from the poisonous atmosphere of the office. The interview was conducted in a welcoming and informal way. The regular employees and Personnel Department are friendly and approachable.

Cons

The senior management are aggressive with very poor communication or involvement. The company has been successful because of the hard work of the Writers and in spite of the leadership, who are very low grade. Writers are worked ridiculously hard, for below average salaries. The senior management talk a good talk (eg look at the CEO video online – it’s a joke!) but in reality just squeeze the employees by creating a culture of fear and intimidation. They don't want employees to contribute ideas or be involved and want to run the company the way they have always run the company, making Writers work harder and harder. Don't be fooled by the initial welcome, I wish I had headed the very negative review that was already on here about them, because that turned out to be true. A number of people felt bullied and mistreated. There is no training or career advancement

Thank you for your feedback as all negative experiences allow an organization to grow and develop into something greater. We apologize that you had such a negative experience within our organization as not all offices can be categorized the same. Our Human Resources department takes all complaints and concerns very seriously when it comes to respect and treatment among team members. We have been taking action in developing and implementing camaraderie based programs to ensure that all employees feel welcomed, appreciated and valued for the work they do in addition to the ideas they contribute. Our open door policy with management as well as human resources encourages employees to express areas of concern in order to prevent scenarios such as this from occurring. Again, we apologize that you feel so negatively about your experiences and wish you all the best in your future endeavors.
