Pros

Convenient location, decent pay, free snacks and gym membership..

Cons

This place has not changed much. It is still a huge mess. For accurate and real review of this place, please read all the lowest rating reviews as they represented what actually happened and are still very true. Things to expect if you take a job here include, but not limited to utterly incompetent director, backstabbing snake coworkers, total lack of integrity/consistency/strong leadership/true embrace of decency and excellence from management. Overall not a good place to work at all.

Overall, look at it as a temporary position, not a permanent one

Pros

Great location in downtown Bethesda (if it's easy to commute). Lots of lunch options. Great benefit packages including subsidizing the gym (Equinox). The office is light and airy. They stock it well with snacks, drinks etc. The other employees are friendly and for the most part engaging. While there are politics, it is no different from any other work place I have been. The work can be exciting, especially if you are a quant jock and like working with numbers and spreadsheets.

Cons

Enviva is not the worst company I have worked for. However, many of the issues outlined in previous reviews are accurate. The management can be tyrannical in enforcing certain policies and does not protect or value employees. There is a very real sense that because they are providing you a paycheck you should always be grateful to them. There is no remote work policy and several key employees have left because the management wants to be able to see them every day. Work/life balance is hard especially in the back remote systems. There are simply not enough people in accounting/finance functions to run it so people have a fair sense of being able to get home and spend time with loved ones. Enviva has a history of randomly firing people for "iffy" reasons at best. If you don't get fired, most people quit after a year or two. You should look at this company as a stop to get advancement on your career, but not as a permanent place to work. Also, there is no upward movement. People are never promoted or advanced. It's obvious who the favorites are from the CEO.
