Pros

High pay for the area. Depending on the role and team you will have the ability to have a lot of ownership over the work that you do.

Cons

I'll share a personal story about my exit to provide an idea of how Epic treats their employees. Starting in March 2020, Epic began allowing work from home due to COVID-19. However, Epic told me that I had to stop working from home on 08/24 or that I would be fired. It was not possible to negotiate or have a meaningful conversation with HR. None of the following made a difference: * I could perform my job duties from home effectively * I had worked for Epic for over 9 years and was internally ranked as a top performer * My ongoing work on projects related to the national COVID-19 response * Personal health concerns that put me at higher risk for negative effects from COVID-19 * My doctor's opinion * The county public health order and how Epic's requirement violated it Epic later dropped the 08/24 requirement but did not allow changes to my situation because I provided the four weeks notice that they asked for.

Pros

One of the best things about Epic is that literally everyone there is smart and knows how to work hard. That is certainly not the case everywhere, and its one of the things I miss the most. Also, the people that work there tend to have a lot of interests outside Epic, so its easy to find a community.

Cons

Many of the managers also have a ton of other commitments, so it can sometimes feel like you're on your own to face difficult problems.

Pros

- Beautiful Campus - Great coworkers. People are very friendly and helpful - Delicious, nearly-free food. The most expensive lunch I ever saw was $8 for lobster mac and cheese. - Most of the tools you'll use are user-friendly and easy to learn.

Cons

- Most tools and technologies are proprietary, internally-developed, or ancient. This can make it difficult to find another job if you start at Epic after college. - When a tool isn't very good, it's extremely bad. - Getting a team/role transfer or promotion can be frustrating. I was told "we'll consider it after this project" for two and a half years.
