Pros

coworkers are kind and smart. Can get leadership positions quickly if you're ambitious.

Cons

5 days for remote work/extreme weather are not enough and traffic to campus is not great. Management continues to micromanage employees with workplans, core hours, time logging. Benefits are not great -401k matching and stock option vesting periods make it unappealing, and not much vacation days. Work can be less technical than advertised depending on app/customer. Rankings for raises and bonuses are a black box.

Pros

There's a good variety of work, and you can work with your team lead to develop your own path focusing on the aspects of the job that interest you most. Compensation feels right, and raises are generous. Great healthcare benefits that have saved my family a lot of money. Also generally very understanding of outages, great HR team, and it's very easy to get time off when you need or want it.

Cons

Little ability to work from home, even though the job is 100% doable remotely. You need to be reasonably firm on your boundaries to avoid being overloaded with work - this isn't too bad, and I've never found it an issue with any of my team leads, but you do need to look after yourself or you'll risk burnout. Expectation is you'll work 42+ hours a week; make sure you're not exceeding 45 often and you'll feel fine.
