Pros

Epic is a great place for new college graduates to start a career. The CEO is a genuinely good person and your day to day is focused on what's best for Epic's customers - no matter the size. Growth opportunities are abundant and can offer exposure to everything from team management to executive-level account management to owning the direction of parts of Epic's functionality. You're paid well to do those things and get insanely good health insurance. The people are easily the most enjoyable part of the job (and part of why most people still work so hard even at their own expense). Customer analysts are generally extremely friendly and fun, coworkers are friendly and willing to help, and it's openly encouraged to have fun. TL;DR - steep learning curve, but plenty of opportunities to advance and do good work. Good pay with other benefits (good health insurance, inexpensive and delicious lunch options, and underground parking).

Cons

For most people used to being a high-performer, there is no reasonable way to keep up with the volume of work ('working more' is not a reasonable solution). Epic's management frequently relies on the number of hours worked when determining who to ask to take on more work, so efficiency will only be rewarded with additional work. Epic is heavily focused on its image, which often comes at the expense of employee wellbeing. While the culture is very helpful and relies heavily on acts of individual selflessness, that selflessness is seldom rewarded or recognized. From taking volunteer shifts to working on passion projects that are key to the company's operation, there is a culture of everyone taking ownership for customers' success. It's expected that everyone works around 45 hours per week, but rarely are there weeks where working less is an option (unless you want to miss things and are okay with the consequences). TL;DR - long hours, high stakes, manipulative upper management

Old fashioned and not inclusive of disabilities

Pros

Very good training. You can join and not know anything about the job and be fully trained quickly and effectively which sets you up for future jobs in the department.

Cons

1. Local hires from international offices are looked down upon and will be stopped from progressing at Epic since “we do not understand epic culture” due to not being based on the campus. 2. Disability accommodations are often ignored despite Dr letters and will take months of pestering HR to get the slightest response. 3. Pay increase is based on a ranking within you team and there is no chance for discussion on this (highest pay increase on the team didn’t even cover cost of living increase in UK). 4. Local hires are paid much less in comparison to Americans who relocate and work in the same office. We are also offered less benefits than the American employees.
