Pros

Excellent role with a strong focus on people and growth! I especially love the flexible hours and the daily interactions with internal and external customers. Every day brings new challenges and chances to learn. A huge plus is working with a great team.

Cons

I would suggest a review of the current vacation time allotment for this position. Additionally, while I value the hybrid structure, I believe that encouraging more frequent working-from-home days would further enhance productivity and flexibility for the team.

Pros

Strong Team & Talent: I was immediately impressed by the high caliber of the engineering team. Their deep institutional knowledge and technical expertise are significant assets, ensuring high-quality output and stability. Clear Strategic Vision: The direction and focus of the product/platform I oversee are well-articulated by leadership. This clarity helps in prioritizing tasks and aligning the team's efforts with broader company goals. Commitment to Modernization: There is an evident, active push toward cloud adoption and modernizing legacy systems. This presents an exciting opportunity for an SDM to lead transformative technical projects. Effective Onboarding Structure: The initial onboarding process was robust, providing necessary access, introductory meetings, and resources, which significantly accelerated my time-to-productivity.

Cons

Process Ambiguity in Dependencies: Some cross-functional processes, particularly those involving dependencies on other business units or regulatory compliance reviews, occasionally exhibit ambiguity or lack documented ownership. This has occasionally led to minor delays in unblocking the team. Documentation Gaps: While the team's internal documentation is solid, the overall architecture and cross-service integration documentation for the broader ecosystem could be more standardized and centrally accessible. Meeting Overload: The effort to gather context and build relationships has resulted in a high volume of meetings, sometimes impacting focused time for strategic planning and direct team mentorship. This is a common challenge in a new role but warrants optimizing.
