Pros

Freedom of schedule and ability to grow your business and prospect any way you choose.

Cons

You are told you'll be joining a team with great coaching, but their advisor model for trainees is to churn and burn. They have associates call terrible leads and the managers are not supportive enough to truly coach and develop an advisor who wants to be a serious professional.

Pros

“Unlimited commission” is theoretically true

Cons

Hours are long No support from management to help grow your business Equitable actually sued me three years after I left employment for “overpaid wages” of $100 They also don’t provide real financial advice to clients, just advice that will line their pockets

Pros

they have regular meetings and trainings to touch on certain subjects such as products or sales techniques. the basic knowledge nuggets of being an advisor and how to survive are handed to you by more experienced advisors.

Cons

they basically wish you the best of luck when your done with licensing exams and expect you to build your full book yourself whether cold calling or prospecting outside the office. you have to pay for your leads. you do not get paid for exams. old fashioned methods. first 2-3 years are the toughest but that's the industry
